spc Alyssa Wheeler

Alyssa Wheeler comes from southern Maine where she began training in various forms of dance at the age of two, primarily focusing on ballet, contemporary, modern, and jazz. After competing for years in New England, she went on to earn a B.A. in Dance from Dean College's School of Dance in Franklin, MA. She was a three-year member of Dean College's Dance Company and had her choreographic works featured in shows throughout her college career. Along with performing in numerous new works, she had the opportunity to perform as the lead in an excerpt from Martha Graham's Steps in the Street and study at The Ailey School in New York City. After graduating, Alyssa taught ballet, contemporary, jazz, and was on the competition team staff at the Dance Studio of Maine. Alyssa came to Seattle in September 2013 to pursue a more dance-focused lifestyle. Since moving here, she has worked with Veronica Lee-Baik, Corina Dalzell, Lucia Neare, and Kristina Koumaeva. She is excited to bring her passion for teaching and choreographing to Seattle. She wants her students to bring their best selves, feel encouraged and celebrated in class, and reach their fullest potential in and out of the studio.
